Justice Court

Payment Information

Citations can be paid online, over the phone, through the mail, or in person:

  • Online — Citation/case number required
  • Over the phone
  • In person — Checks, cash, money order, or credit cards
  • Mailed checks

Service fees apply to credit/debit card transactions.

Citation fees are based on the Utah State Uniform Fine & Bail Forfeiture Schedule (see documents below).

To set up payments on a citation, fill out a payment agreement form at the city offices:

If you plan to dispute charges or request special programs, do not pay yet — contact the court first.

Open Court

To schedule a court date, contact the court at 801-731-4187.

Court is in session the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 10:00 AM, excluding holidays.

For offenses that do not require a court appearance, citations may be paid during regular city office hours.

Deferred Prosecution

The Ticket Must Meet All Of These Requirements

  • Speeding tickets — 19 MPH over or under only
  • Stop sign, red light, improper turn, or other minor moving violation tickets
  • Citation must not involve an accident

The Driver Must Meet All Of These Requirements

  • Valid license at the time of citation
  • Has not attended Farr West City Traffic School in the past 12 months
  • No more than one moving violation from any state in the past 3 years

Small Claims

To file a Small Claims case, fill out the Affidavit and Summons (see documents below).

This form must be physically filed at the court.

Small Claims Court is held once a month. The court date is assigned by the clerk following the filing.
